Hi,
I'm facing quite annoying complications when attempting to finish a task
that only appear to be in Firefox. I don't seem to figure out nor the
reason/logic behind the problem nor the solution for it. I would really
appreciate any help to solve the problem or at least understand if it's
gonna be solved.
I have identically positioned and sized elements sets that I use to build
some kind of visualization of time scale. The only difference between all of
them is their orientation and position of parent container. Those should be
completely irrelevant factors, but instead I get quite different results of
rendering each elements set (difference is one pixel all the time but in
different directions). Attached is a screenshot of the resuts I get. The
positionging breaks randomly on most reflows of vertical dimension (resize
window, scrolling, etc.), so just scrolling the page gives different
variations of positioning errors. I've tried already approaching solution of
the problem from different angles (positioning from differnt constaint
dimensions - bottom, top; using different means to fill area with color -
bg, border) now and still same result. The most annoying part is it does not
happen in FF on a different machine running XP (I run Win 7), and on my
machine it is happening for most major latest versions of FF (5, 6, 7). Even
wierder - some time ago (two weeks or maybe more) - I reacall it was working
fine (at least that's what I remember), so I assume this has something to do
with system updates.
(Have just rechecked - on XP machine all element sets from the screenshot
are completely identical, differing only in orientation and position as
aexpected)
Can this be smoothing algorithm problem?
